A photography Project documenting a hidden world of Jazz

A documentary photo project by Philip Arneill & James Catchpole chronicling Japan's hidden and rapidly disappearing world of jazz bars and 'kissaten' coffee shops.

Cabin, Yokosuka

We visited The Cabin in Yokosuka in May 2017. It was closed.

Based on internet research and local enquiry, it seems that is now closed permanently and so unlikely that we will be able to photograph anything now other than the outside.

It is a reminder that time is ticking fast to capture these hidden gems of jazz - many of which have been there for decades - before they disappear forever from the Japanese landscape.

This was, and continues to be, Tokyo Jazz Joints' raison d'etre.
